The assembly of the various elements of the foot of the cross is almost invisible, contributing to the impression of tour de force that it gives off. The evangelists are inserted through a notch on the frieze that surrounds the dome and are screwed there. The base of the pillar, fused with the symbols, is fixed by rivets, visible on the internal face of the dome. The pillar itself consists of a wooden core (internal pillar), on which the vertical beaded bars of the angles and the enamelled plates are fixed by nails. Finally, the capital is made up of three interlocking and riveted pieces: base associated with the busts; openwork basket and corner leaves; abacus at the top. Under the dome a counterweight ensures the stability of the foot.
